With it now being only thirty days until Christmas; the so called ‘party season’ will soon begin and as much as it may be important to find that perfect party dress; no look is ever complete without the perfect makeup look.
As ever, the dark berry lip will always will be a winter makeup staple; both matte and glossy versions were seen on the models that stormed the runways of Dior, Louis Vuitton and many others. Keep it dark and matte with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in ‘La Romanesque’, or opt for a more subtle look with Urban Decay’s Sheer Shimmer Vice Lipstick in Seismic. The perfect pair to a dark sultry lip: an almost naked eye and a strong brushed up brow.
The A/W catwalks saw a surge in graphic liner. No longer does the simple wing suffice; eyeliner is now bolder than ever and seen drawn in less traditional places. Yet, drawing thick black lines across your cheekbones is a relatively bold move. So, instead focus on a bold smudged look, easy to create for a super smokey look. Smudging gel liner rather than a kohl pencil gives a more dramatic and dark look; Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner is one of the darkest and best value gel liners available. Equally, try to liven up the party look and used coloured liner. Lining the waterline with a pop of blue or green is a more subtle and still eye catching way to embrace the trends of the season.
Glowing skin has always been, and will always be, a beauty classic. Luminous, dewy skin was seen Balmain and Versace. Limited foundation and concealer creates a natural base for highlighted cheekbones. Using a liquid highlighter mixed in with foundation creates a healthy glow to the skin without looking ‘cakey’. Nars liquid illuminator creates a natural looking sheen to the skin whilst ensuring the skin doesn’t look ‘sparkly’. Also, L’Oreal True Match Lumi foundation and illuminator are top of the drugstore highlighter list. Ensure the look is kept toned down; a nude gloss on the lips and a brushed through brow will ensure a perfectly glowing natural look.
As with any party look, glitter is a key component. Whether it be a light dusting on the lid, or a sparkling gloss, glitter is a must have. Seen at Burberry and Jenny Packham, gold glittering eyes are the centre of the Christmas look. Urban Decay’s new Moondust palette contains eight shimmering shades perfect for the part season. Made richer when applied with a damp brush, the glittery shadows can be foiled onto the lid for a longer lasting more intense look. MAC Cosmetics Dazzleglass lipgloss collection provides long-lasting sparkling lips. Available in a range of colours; this lipgloss will survive any New Years Eve party.
